With ability to have processes run “in the background”, how awesome would it be to have an application that could record your iOS device screen (while you are using another app ), and record your voice audio, to create screen casts? Yeah that would rule. Especially on the iPad! What do you think?

The iPhone is suppose to arrive in Canada in 4 days and my current provider has announced NOTHING!

Rogers’ front page has said iPhone 4 coming soon since the Apple announcement of iPhone 4, and now that we are 4 days away there is still no word from them regarding pricing or upgrade options for current iPhone users. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure last year we knew prior to the launch date whether we were eligible, and we knew pricing. Bell Mobility has announced the July 30th launch date on their site, whether or not this translates to their customers knowing price and upgrade options I’m not sure. All I know is that I’ve had to wait for the second tier launch date from Apple, and I’m getting a little anxious as to whether I can actually upgrade.

Burning photos to a disc is very simple. Here’s how:

Create a folder on your desktop and (or anywhere really) and name it whatever you want, something appropriate to the photos I suppose.
Copy the photos you want to burn to the folder (if they are in iPhoto just drag them out and it will make a copy).
Right click (control click) and chose “Burn “name of the folder” to disc”.

After much frustration I’ve finally settled on a theme for macintom.ca. I wanted one that had link/social media integration, pages, Google Analytics, and of course… I wanted to like the look of it. Oh yeah, and it must NOT crash on the iPad because of java script. I was using one I really liked, but it crashed Safari on the iPad 98% of the time.

I’d like to give a shout-out to Woothemes, they have some REALLY nice Tumblr themes, I’m now using two of them for different blogs.

Have you ever had your iPhone act up only to result in a restore? What about all the images and/or videos you had stored in your camera roll? Well, if you actually connect your iPhone to iTunes and do backups then you’re in luck.

iPhone Backup Extractor

I’ve had to use this app, and it does one thing, and does it very well.

You launch the application and point it to the backup you’d like to extract. It shows you the applications in your backup, choose iOS files and tell it where to extract the files, then you can navigate to your images and video files (Warning If you had a lot of pictures or videos this will take a while, I though at first that it wasn’t working).

Of course, if you have an content stored within an app you can extract those too.

This application supports iOS4 and earlier on Macs running OS X 10.5 upwards, and it’s Free, but the developer has a Donation link on their Website

I thought maybe I’d call this post “Yesterday in Apple News” since most of what I read by lunch time actually happened the day before.

Here’s the summary:

Apple posts a video on their antenna website showing the Nokia N97’s attenuation problem (similar to the iPhone 4’s)
Apple donates MacPaint source to the Computer History Museum.
Apple reports their third quarter earnings:
- $15.7 billion in revenues and net quarterly profit of $3.25 billion
- 8.4 million iPhones sold
- 9.41 million iPods sold
- 3.27 million iPads sold
- 3.47 Macs sold

Handy Light

This application had a short (few hours I’m guessing) life in the AppStore. The developer Nick Lee was clever enough to sneak a FlashLight App capable of Tethering right passed Apple’s noses. Well, I’m sure this is the downside to the internet, they found out and pulled the app very quickly. Blogging sites, Twitter, and even iTunes reviews were making it too obvious that this little app was a Rebel fighter against the Death Star.

Tethering for many iPhone users in Canada is free

If someone could sneak an app that broadcasts your iPhone as a WiFi hotspot like MyWi (for Jailbroken devices), I’d buy it, and keep it quiet!

I’m not really sure what type of sorting this is in Google...
